About Us

Our Vision

I’m here to give every dog and cat in Louisville a calm, force-free grooming experience — especially the anxious and reactive pets who need a little extra patience. Certified, gentle, and always in your pet’s corner.

Our Story

IMG_5354.JPG

My path to grooming started with my childhood dog, a high anxiety German shepherd mix who was terrified of nail trims — it took five people to hold him down, and watching that stress stayed with me. When I began grooming in 2014, I promised myself I’d build the safe space he never had.

That promise still shapes everything at Haute Dog Grooming. I lead with a force-free, relationship-over-rushing approach: I read each pet’s body language, work at their pace, and build trust instead of forcing cooperation. Because I’m AKC S.A.F.E. certified and First Aid & CPR certified, safety isn’t just something I promise — it’s something I’m trained and credentialed to deliver.

My salon is a judgment-free space for every pet, from the easygoing regulars to the “spicy” ones other groomers turn away. To me, your pet isn’t an appointment — they’re family, and I treat them exactly that way.

Meet the Team

Goose

The Haute Dog

As my personal rescue pup and primary support system, Goose is the official heart and soul of Haute Dog Grooming! She takes her role as "Shop Dog" very seriously—selflessly testing every new shampoo, treat, tool, and service before it ever makes it onto our menu. From gentle spa products to new creative techniques, everything gets Goose’s personal seal of approval to ensure it meets our strict force-free and pet-safe standards. When she’s not keeping salon morale high, she’s holding down her cozy spot, making sure every furry guest feels right at home!

Madison

Owner and Groomer

I’ve been professionally grooming since 2014, and my absolute favorite part of the job is building a bond with every animal that walks through my doors. To me, every pet and pet parent who enters my salon isn’t just a client — they are family.

Because your furry family member’s safety and comfort are my top priorities, I’ve dedicated myself to continuous training. I am proudly AKC S.A.F.E. certified, First Aid & CPR certified, and specialized/certified in working with difficult and reactive pets.

Whether your dog needs a high-styled haircut or a patient, gentle hand to help them overcome grooming anxiety, I’m here to make sure they feel safe, loved, and pampered. I can’t wait to meet you and your best friend!

David

As co-owner of Haute Dog Grooming, David is the anchor behind the scenes keeping everything running smoothly so our team can focus on what they do best: giving your pets a gentle, stress-free grooming experience. Whether he’s managing salon logistics, greeting clients, or giving extra love and belly rubs to pups waiting for their appointments, David shares Madison’s passion for creating a calm, safe, and welcoming environment for every animal that walks through our doors. Outside the salon, you'll usually find him at home surrounded by the couple's own lively crew of rescue pets.

FAQs

My dog has been turned away by other groomers. Can you still groom them?

I welcome dogs that others might consider difficult, reactive, or overly anxious. With my certified background in pet behavior and first aid, I'm equipped to handle pets who need extra time, care, and a gentle touch. I don't believe in forcing a pet through the process; instead, I work to build their trust over time. If your pup has a challenging history, please let me know on your intake form so I can plan the best approach for them.

Do you groom cats or other small animals?

Yes! While dog grooming is a big part of what I do, I also offer specialized, low-stress grooming for cats, rabbits, and other small pocket pets. Just like with my canine clients, I use a patience-first approach so smaller furry friends feel safe, calm, and secure throughout their session.

Do you offer creative styling or coloring services?

Yes! Along with everyday clips and specialized behavioral care, I love bringing a little fun and flair to your pet's look. I offer vibrant, creative color transformations using 100% pet-safe, non-toxic dyes — from a subtle pop of color on the tail to a full vivid look — and the process is just as gentle, safe, and stress-free as any standard grooming session.

What should I do to prepare my pet for their first appointment?

A few simple steps help ensure a smooth, relaxing first visit. Share everything on the intake form — the more I know about their likes, dislikes, medical history, and past grooming experiences, the better I can customize their stay. Keep the morning calm and avoid high-energy activities right before their visit so they arrive relaxed. And feel free to bring a favorite high-value treat; I love using positive reinforcement to make grooming a rewarding experience.
